This project is about the NOW; it’s about documenting what it is that make this ‘time and season’ beautiful, unique and focusing on the best part. (i still have a few finishing touches to add...)I have always loved the imagery of the ‘plum blossoms’ in oriental art… and when I learned a little more about what the ‘plum blossom’ symbolized, I knew that I wanted to do something that would represent that… in China, the plum blossom is the very first sign of spring. Before any leaves are on the trees, and usually under a blanket of snow, the flowers of the plum (more like an apricot I think) tree bloom and defy the cold, and against all odds thrive in the worst circumstances. Throughout generations, these little blossoms have symbolized ‘resilience, perseverance in the face of adversity…courage and an undaunted spirit.’ I love that metaphor, and as so many of us are facing changes and challenges, I think it’s important to bloom beautifully despite harsh conditions… that is what this project is all about! We’ll be using “clear paper” by Bazzill and the alcohol inks to create the cover… and the book is filled with beautiful Scenic Route paper, i added in some of my clear extras and even some of my "invisibles" chipboard- i have been hoarding some just for this project.
